Board Certification
Newport Beach Plastic Surgeon – Board Certification
Board certification should be a paramount concern when selecting a cosmetic surgeon. By choosing a surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), you are placing yourself in the care of a physician who has:
- Graduated from an accredited medical school
- Completed a minimum five-year program in accredited resident surgery training
- Accumulated at least two years of exclusive plastic surgery experience during residency
- Mastered the comprehensive written and oral examinations required to conclude the certification process
Because the ABPS is one of numerous medical specialties governed by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), each physician candidate must be determined to uphold the professional requirements of both boards in order to obtain, as well as maintain, their certification status.
In addition to the above requirements, the ABMS dictates that certification candidates for any of their member boards have an unrestricted license to practice medicine in order to participate in the final examinations.
Dr. Ambe meets the certification requirements of both the ABPS and ABMS.
